The one thing your writing should do

Jordan and I bought our first home last year.

A few months ago we took a trip to Ikea to gather some interior decor. To make the house a home.

We came back with a some bits n bobs. Among which was a Gamelhult (a rattan footstool with a middle part for storage)

We use it as a coffee table in the living room.

“This will suit our theme perfectly …” Jordan said “and we have somewhere for a few books now.”

We assembled the Gamelhult and put it in the middle of the room then took a step back.

‘Starting to feel more homely already” I said, hands on my hips looking proudly at our creation

That evening I was laid up on the sofa

Jordan and our cat Norris were playing. He was in the table and she was poking her head to either side.

Norris was chasing her, batting her face with his paws and bumping her with his nose.

I laughed and smiled the whole time.

‘He loves it.” Jordan said. “he’s my little pal.”

A simple, happy scene.

And that's all your writing should do.

Make people happy

Find those little moments and connect them to what your selling.

Fact is … we didn't really buy the table to fit with our theme or provide storage.

No, we bought it for that moment of play and joy.

And an ad for Ikea doesn't need to do much more than portray a scene like that.

If you want your ads to pull like mad … inject them with happiness.
