Sip a cup of concrete before reading this.

In my experience, I’ve noticed a widespread plague among businesess.

Not all succumb to it, but most do, and very few have the know-how to escape.

Marketing teams, consultants, copywriters, creative-directors all have a knack for narcissism.

“We are delighted to announced 2x profits this year”, “We have been industry leaders for 108 years”, “We achieved 1m impressions on this campaign.”

You know the score. And you know you know.

It’s like a corporate UTI. People can’t help but ‘wee’ all over themselves.

It’s embarrassing and a waste.

Your product or service has the ability for good baked into, to make people’s lives better, or else it wouldn’t exist.

So why, why, WHY, do you lead with we?

Are you so desperate to sell rather than serve?

That’s like running in circles trying to catch your own tail.

I know deep down you want to build something with impact, something with legacy, and something sustainable.

But when you mass produce this ‘we we’ marketing …

… you lose all day.

I see it like this … you have two options:

  1. You can pass through hell attempting to extinguish the flames with your ‘weeing’.

Or …

2. You can loosen your laughter and win the minds of people by focusing …….your efforts on them.

I’m heading the good crusade for the latter.

If you wish to join me …

Use This Is Copy as an antibiotic for that UTI you’re nursing.

Here you’ll find lessons on writing and marketing that turn your words from jargon into something alive and kicking.

Something with verve, focused on serving.

Use what you find. There’s more to you than you’re letting on.

“Enjoy”.
